The North Adams Public School District will host an All District Choral Jamboree for Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday January 8, with a concert Jan 8 at 6:30, for all district choristers grades 4-12 under the direction of guest conductor and clinician, Dr. Eric Rubinstein. The event will be hosted at Drury High School.
Dr. Eric Rubinstein is Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College (CUNY), where he directs the Treble Choir and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education. His primary area of research focuses on the development of student-learning environments within diverse and marginalized communities, specifically through the lens of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Dr. Rubinstein has presented and published his research through the regional and national chapters of NAfME and ACDA. Eric is an accomplished vocalist, dancer, adjudicator, clinician, and choreographer and has an extended performance portfolio that expands globally.
Choristers have been working hard on a diverse choral program in preparation for this event.
Students will spend the day Tuesday and the morning on Wednesday, engaged in choral skills preparation and repertoire. Chris Caproni, the Drury High School band director, has prepared the percussionists to accompany this event as well.
NAPS choral dept directors, coordinating and preparing students for this event are: Mrs Staci Lazzari from Colegrove Park Elementary, Carolyn Jones from Greylock Elementary and Kate Caton, from both Drury High School and Brayton Elementary schools.
This event is being sponsored largely by a grant through The Massachusetts Cultural Council.
