Cafeteria Worker

Job Description

This is a great position for someone with school aged children looking for work during the school year or a retired individual looking to supplement their income.

Location: Drury High School

Job Goal:         To serve every student food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring.

Hours:             This position is for 6 hours per day.

Duration:         This position is available while school is in session.

Schedule:        Expected work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Supervision:    Reports to Cafeteria Manager and the Director of Food Service. 

Salary: Per contract.

Performance Responsibilities:

1.  Assists in the daily preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program.

2.  Assists in the general operation of the program as required.

3.  Assists in the daily cleaning and sanitizing of all workstations, utensils, equipment, and all other areas within the kitchen and cafeteria.

4.  Assists in the proper receiving and storage of foods. 

5.  Attends C.P.R. training annually.

6.  Any other duties assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or Food Service Director.

Special Knowledge/Abilities For Position:    Interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions. Must be able to understand basic math.   

Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:

Preferred:        Previous experience as a cafeteria employee and current Food Safety Manager Certificate. 

Physical Requirements:           The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.  The position requires lifting of objects of 40 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 40 pounds occasionally.  There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a cash register.

Environmental Conditions:     The occupant is required to work indoors.  The regular chemical solvents used are cleaning fluids.  The occupant is exposed to extreme heat/cold changes.  The occupant is expected to have gloves and respiratory protection when necessary.
