Drury Stage Lighting & Sound Designer

Location: Drury High School

Job Goals:     To collaborate with the Drury Stage Company Director to design and implement lighting and sound.

                        To supervise, teach and mentor student stage crew to implement the lighting and sound scapes.

                        To set up all sound and lighting systems.

 Supervision:   Reports to the Drury Principal and/or Team Leader of Drury Fine & Performing Arts.   

Performance Responsibilities:

           1.  Collaborate with the Play Director to design and implement the show lighting and sound.

            2.   To supervise, teach and mentor student stage crew to implement the lighting and sound scapes.

            3.  Duties will be carried out after the regular school day.

            4.  To attend all “tech week” rehearsals and all show performances.

Special Knowledge/Abilities For Position:   Must possess strong oral communication skills and demonstrated ability and training in use of MYDMX 2.0, DMX512, multiple lighting instruments, digital sound mixer, multiple wireless mic systems, sound reinforcement equipment. 

Work will be completed in the after-school time period. The show will be November 3rd & 4th, with 3 performances.

Required:  Bachelor’s Degree. At least five years prior work experience as a music/sound/lighting teacher.  Teacher licensure.  Previous experience designing and implementing theatre sound and lighting. Previous experience teaching and mentoring students in technical arts. 

Preferred:  Master’s Degree.

Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.

Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.
