Drury Stage Art Set Designer

Location: Drury High School

Job Goals:     To collaborate with the Drury Stage Company Director and the Construction Designer to design, decorate and paint sets.

 Supervision:   Reports to the Drury Principal and/or Team Leader of Drury Fine & Performing Arts.   

Performance Responsibilities:

1.  Collaborate with the Play Director and Construction Designer in designing and building sets. 

            2.  Duties will be carried out after the regular school day.

            3.  Supervise and mentor students in set design, decorating and painting and safety as needed.

Special Knowledge/Abilities For Position:    Must possess strong oral communication skills, set construction skills and working knowledge of industry safety standards. 

Work will be completed in the after-school time period. The show will be April 5th & 6th, with 3 performances.

Required:  Bachelor’s Degree. At least five years prior work experience as a set designer.  Teacher licensure.  Ability to teach/mentor/supervise student construction assistants.

Preferred:  Master’s Degree.

Physical Requirements: The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary. Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects. The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally. There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines.

Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors. The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.
