Early College Special Education Coach

Location: Drury High School

Description: This is an internal posting geared toward special education leadership at Drury High School. This position is for the school year only. It is for 1 hour per day for 4-5 days per week.

Job Goal: To coordinate services and support students with IEPs in the Drury High School Early College program

Supervision: Reports to the building principal.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborates with the Early College Coordinator to provide wraparound services to students with IEPs or 504s

  2. Communicates with families about how the student is doing in their Early College courses and explains to families the additional supports available to those students

  3. Checks in weekly with students on IEPs or 504s who are enrolled in Early College courses and provides additional support services as needed

  4. Monitors grades and communicates with teachers for students on their caseload

  5. Helps connect students on caseload with tutoring at MCLA or through Paper

  6. Attends Early College community outreach events

  7. Attends Early College meetings as deemed necessary by the Early College Coordinator

  8. Meets with the MCLA Early College Coordinator whenever discussing wraparound services for students

  9. Works, beyond the regular school day, as required by the principal and performs any duties related thereto.

  10. Any other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements:

Required: Department of Education Certification as a Teacher. Leadership or administrative experience at the secondary level.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in Administration or an earned higher academic degree. At least five years of administrative experience in a school setting.

Physical Requirements:   The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting and climbing stairs and step stool whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling of objects.  The position requires lifting objects of 20 pounds on a frequent basis, and over 20 pounds occasionally.  There is a frequent requirement of fine manipulation associated with the required use of a computer, typewriter, keyboard, calculator, and other business machines. 

Environmental Conditions: The occupant is required to work indoors.  The regular chemical solvents are toners, inks, and cleaning fluids.

Salary: $3900 stipend
