This Saturday May 2nd the Drury High School Small Business Artists from Mr. Brown (Math) and Ms. Hartlage's (Art) PBL course, Culture of Creativity/Entrepreneurship, participated in a real-world vending experience by setting up at the last indoor Maker's Market of the season at Hotel Downstreet. Each student who attended the market actively made sales of their handmade products created during this Semester 2 course. Products included altered upcycled clothing, quilted potholders, candles, leather crafted items, pins, original paintings, and bouquets of "forever flowers". Come check these artists' creations out on June 11th at Drury High School in the Library where they will be set up before Student Recognition Night!

There was an incredible energy in the air as we officially broke ground on this exciting project this afternoon. Mayor Macksey captured the spirit of the moment in her remarks: "As we break ground today, it's very important that we remember this is about our future ... we can achieve anything when we invest in what matters most: our children."
Members of the School Building Committee, School Committee, and some future Greylock students put ceremonial "first shovels" in the ground together. This new building represents our commitment to providing our students with brand new facilities, 21st-century learning spaces, and will lay the foundation for a bright future. We're grateful for the leadership, community support, and vision that made this moment possible and look forward to building something amazing together! 🏗️✨

We were thrilled to showcase the incredible artwork created by our talented 5th and 6th-grade students over April break!
Thank you to everyone who visited and supported our students!🌟

Major progress this month! We've transitioned from prep work into active demolition. Here's what's happened:
✅ Hazardous material abatement complete & cleared ✅ North/east building demolition underway ✅ Perimeter fencing & access gates installed ✅ Structural elements on the property removed or relocated ✅ Site grading & foundation prep in progress
What's next: Continued demolition, debris hauling, excavation for foundations, and increased equipment on-site. 🏗️

I wanted to get my child support, but...
❌ ...the waitlist was 3 months long
❌ ...I couldn't afford it
❌ ...the appointments were only during school or work hours
❌ ...I couldn't find a therapist who speaks our language
We hear you. These barriers are real—and they shouldn't stand between your child and support.
That's why we partnered with Cartwheel:
✅ Appointments within days, not months
✅ Free for families with Medicaid; in-network with most private insurance
✅ Virtual sessions from 3pm-8pm and weekends
✅ Care available in Spanish and other languages

🎨 Congratulations to our Drury High School artists on an incredible achievement at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's 14th annual Teen Invitational! 🏆
All three awards for artistic excellence went to our talented students:
✨ Rommel Alvarez — "Beautiful Mind Rod Wave" (pencil & ink drawing) ✨ Makayla Bushika — "Feelin' Froggy" (ceramic frogs and flowers) ✨ Anna Bond — "Beach" (acrylic painting)
Out of over 400 submissions from 13 regional schools, our artists stood out for their excellence, skill, and visible commitment to their craft. We're also proud of our Drury DPAC band who performed at the reception!
A special shout-out to our outstanding art teacher, Amanda Hartlage, for receiving a Pepper/Jackson Award for excellence in the classroom. Well deserved!

Sometimes the signs are obvious—but often they're subtle. Here are some things to notice:
😔 Changes in mood that last more than a few days
😴 Different sleep or eating patterns
📚 Grades dropping or losing interest in school
🏠 Avoiding school or making excuses not to go
👥 Pulling away from friends or activities they used to enjoy
😰 Expressing more worry, stress, or sadness than usual
If you're seeing any of these signs, trust your instincts. You know your child best.
Cartwheel is here to help—with licensed therapists and psychiatrists available within days. Completely free for families with Medicaid, in-network with most private insurance plans.

Thursday, April 16th, 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Mass MoCA
Live performances by local student groups
Exhibition on view April 17 - 26, 11am - 5pm
Featuring the art of 50 Drury Artists to be announced Monday, April 13th and a 3 song performance by members of the Drury Rock Band.
Juried by art students of Mr. Strack and Hartlage's Semester 2 courses. Semester 2 art students' top three favorite pieces were:
1. Keira Martin's "Untitled" Painting
2. Ian Brule's "Jar Jar Jar" Ceramic Lidded Object
3. Ella Morgan's Collaged "Self-Portrait."
Special shoutout to Drury students, Anna Bond, for creating the painting of the MoCA Clocktower center image featured in the traditionally analogue printed posters for the event, and Cleo Welch, who mixed the colors used in the printed poster. Anna is currently enrolled in a new artist mentorship program at MASS MoCA, working with professional artists, and Cleo is interning at the Gary Lichtenstein Editions on the Mass MoCA campus. Both students are experiencing the incredible gift of learning directly from and working with professional career artists.
Mr. Strack's Ceramics students installed their own show on Tuesday, April 14th -- a unique opportunity to learn how exhibitions come to life from behind the scenes.
